A lot of people have been asking me recently "How do I promote GDI", in particular since GDI was added to the Plug-In Profit Site very recently.
In this post I will try to answer this question and give a few ideas for promoting GDI. These will include both free and paid methods of promotion.
Here are 10 different ways to promote GDI (Global Domains International).
1) Use the Plug-In Profit Site to promote GDI - if you have a Plug-In Profit site you can just continue to promote your site and the Plug-In Profit Site (PIPS) opportunity in the normal way. When someone signs up for PIPS they will also signup under you for GDI. (Cost - $24.95 per month for a Plug-In Profit Site).
2) Write a review of GDI - if you have a blog or a website, why not write a review of GDI? Give your own personal opinion of the opportunity, what the commission are, what benefits you get and what the positives and negatives are. Many people search for reviews of business opportunities before they sign up, so by writing a review you have a very good chance of getting someone who is in the buying mood! Start a blog for free at Blogger.com if you don't already have one. (FREE).
3) Use GDI's DVDs - this is GDI's own recommended way of marketing the opportunity. They have various strategies for this including handing out DVDs to people on a daily basis (face to face marketing), mailing DVDs to people, using GDI's leads packages & DVDs. There is a comprehensive PDF guide to this marketing method you can download it here. (COST - $2.95 per DVD + approx $3 shipping for US citizens)
4) Use Article Marketing - you could write a short article either about GDI itself or a general article about work from home/ home business opportunities. Add an author resource box to the end of the article and include a link to your GDI signup page. Post this article to online article directories. Make sure your article is informative and not an advertisement (FREE)
5) Join the Home Income Team - The Home Income Team (HIT) is free to join and they provide a downline builder (including GDI), lots of great splash pages to market in the traffic exchanges, free training and a free website builder. Join HIT, add your ID to the downline builder and start following their training (FREE).
6) Forum Marketing - hang out in home business or work from home related forums that allow you to have a signature after your posts. Don't spam the forum - just ask and answer questions, be helpful and friendly. Add the GDI opportunity to your signature and once you have established a reputation people may decide to join GDI through you. (FREE)
7) Classifeds - you can post classified ads online and offline and there are hundreds of thousands of places on and off the internet to do this in. Anything from shop window ads & newspaper ads, to online classified websites. Search on Google for places to post classified ads and you will be spoilt for choice. (FREE & PAID options).
8) Traffic Exchanges - there are hundreds of traffic exchanges where you can surf to earn credits and promote your own opportunities with these credits. If you are going to use this strategy I recommend you join the Home Income Team as described in 5) above as they have lots of good splash pages. (FREE)
9) Email Signature - how many emails do you send out per day? Why not add a signature to all your personal emails promoting the GDI opportunity? Most email programs allow you to add a signature automatically. (FREE)
10) Business Cards - order business cards from GDI and carry them around with you. You can give them out to people you meet, leave them on noticeboards and put them in mail that you send. (COST - from $27 for 250 business cards).

Review of Lawn Chair Millionaire
It has been two months since Stone added Lawn Chair Millionaire to the Plug-In Profit Site but the reason I have not reviewed it until now is because I don't like to review a program unless I have been a member for at least a couple of months and I have received commissions from it.
The time has now come - I've been a member for 2 months and they have paid me :-)
So if you are undecided, here is an honest review of Lawn Chair Millionaire to help you make up your mind.
How much does it cost?
The cost is $29.99 per month, but there is an additional one time admin fee of $49.99 when you join. So it is going to cost $79.98 for your first month and $29.99 thereafter.
What is the Commission Structure?
If someone joins LCM under your link you receive an instant $20 bonus. If the remain a member you will receive a $15 commission for every month that they are a member.
My commission for the month of May 09 (my first full month) was $425.51 (see below for screenshot)
You are also guaranteed commissions in your first three months of being a member. The exact amount is dependent on what the value of a "Moneyline Pool Share" is, but for me it was $13.02 for the first month, $15.51 for the second month and $18.32 for the third month (see screenshot below)
What do I get as a member of Lawn Chair Millionaire?
Access to something called a "Vault". The vault contains various methods for making money including:
- SoccerMaestro, an online betting system
- 60 Minute Trader, a stock market trading system
- Smart Cash System, a way to make money on the Sports market
- MyAutoForex - another way of making money with FOREX
- A place to add your own custom opportunity for your downline to see
None of the above really interested me, so I didn't go into any great depth with any of the vault items and decided to concentrate on promoting the business opportunity instead.

GDI added to the Plug-In Profit Site
A while ago Stone made a promise that he wouldn't change any program in the Plug-In Profit Site unless it became defunct. He has just made a post in the PIPS Support forum to say that he is unable to keep that promise.
You can read this post here. Change can be hard, but as I say in my reply to that post, I think change is fine for most of us as long as we are all informed of these changes and understand the reasoning behind them.
The latest change in the Plug-In Profit Site is the addition of Global Domains International (GDI) in place of Traffic Swarm. I have to say that I am surprised at the removal of Traffic Swarm as it has been a part of the Plug-In Profit site since I joined over 5 years ago, but Stone's reasoning behind this decision is that Traffic Swarm is not very profitable as an income stream. I would have to agree with that one, as my commissions from Traffic Swarm have always been less than $100 per month.
I have been a member of GDI for a few years now and it is a good stable program. It has been around for a long time and is very popular. You may even be a member already and if you are the first thing you need to do is login to the PIPS affiliate center, click on the account link at the top right and enter your ID.
If you are not a member of GDI you probably want to make a decision about whether or not you want to join it. I feel like a broken record now as I've said this so many times, but you need to remember that this is your business, your decision and it is entirely up to you if you join GDI or not. You don't have to join GDI if for example you do not like the program, or if you cannot afford it
The cost of GDI is $10 per month. You can sign up for a free trial for 7 days to see if you like it. If you don't, as long as you cancel before the end of your trial you will not be charged. The commission structure is pretty easy to understand. You get $1 recurring monthly commission for everyone you refer, but you also get $1 for every spillover from your upline and $1 for everyone recruited by your downline. They also have leaderboards with big bonuses for the top recruiters, but you do need to use the GDI DVDs as part of your promotional strategy to qualify for these bonuses.
I have never promoted GDI very much - it appears only on one or two pages on my website, but despite this (and thanks to an active downline) I usually get a couple of hundred dollars recurring commission per month from it.

How to Backup your Plug-In Profit Site
It is important to make a regular backup of your Plug-In Profit Site, especially if you are making regular changes to it, or blogging on a regular basis.
How often you backup depends on how often you make changes to your website. If you are only making changes once every month or two, then it is perfectly acceptable to make a backup once a month or once every two months. However, if you are frequently making changes e.g. blogging a few times a week or adding new pages to your website regularly, then you will want to back up your site once every week or two.
Luckily making a backup is very quick and it is also very easy, even if you have never made any changes to your website before.
Here is what you need to do:
(1) Log into your Host4Profit WEBEPanel. You will find this at http://www.yourdomain/menu - that’s just the URL of your website with “/menu” on the end. You will need to use your username and password that you received by email from Host4Profit to log into the WEBEPanel. If you can’t find this, send an email to Host4Profit support.

Just click on that link to download the zip file to your computer. You will need WinZip to unpack the file, but if you don’t have this already you can download it for free.
(4) Once you have downloaded the backup on to your PC you should extract the files from it just to double check that it hasn't been corrupted during the download.
(5) That's it! You're done :-)
In addition to this, if you ever make any changes to your home page or anther page on your site, make a backup BEFORE doing this. If you screw up your site you will thank yourself that you have taken the time to backup!

Lawn Chair Millionaire added to the Plug-In Profit Site
I made a post earlier today about Success University being removed from the Plug-In Profit Site.
This post will concentrate on the brand new program that has just been added to PIPS - Lawn Chair Millionaire.
Lawn Chair Millionaire (LCM) is replacing Success University as one of the income streams in the Plug-In Profit Site. Whether or not you actually decide to join this program is entirely up to you - it is optional, so if you don't feel that you have the budget for it then you should hold off joining for the time being.
I only joined Lawn Chair Millionaire myself yesterday, so it is too early for me to write a full review of it right now, so I will save that for a future post.
What I will do now is give you the low-down on what I have discovered so far, to help you to decide whether or not it is right for you.
Cost and Commissions
Most importantly, the first thing I will talk about is money. How much does it cost to join and how much do you get paid?
The joining costs are pretty straightforward - it is $49.95 admin fee to join and there is a monthly fee of $29.95 per month. So the monthly cost is more than $20 less than SU, but the admin fee makes the initial payment a bit more expensive.
As for the commissions, I was surprised to receive an email after 1 day to say that I had been paid $13.02 from the month one bonus pool. This was before I had had the chance to actually do any advertising, so it is encouraging to know that people are going to get some commissions regardless of whether or not they manage to sponsor anyone. The email also told me that my month 2 earnings were $15.51 and month 3 was $18.32 and these numbers would increase.
The commissions for personally sponsoring a new member into the Lawn Chair Millionaire also look good. Like Empowerism they have a $20 fast start bonus every time you sponsor a new member. There is also a $15 monthly commission for as long as that person remains a member of LCM.
There are also various bonuses and pools to allow you to earn some additional commissions.
Product

The administration fee that you pay to join is non refundable, but they will refund your monthly fee if you decide that the opportunity is not for you.

After you have joined and you have your ID you need to login to the Plug-In Profit Affiliate center and add your LCM ID so that it is shown in your Plug-In Profit Site sales page.

Success University Dropped from the Plug-In Profit Site
I've lost count of the number of times that Success University has been in and out of the Plug-In Profit Site, but it looks like this time it is out for good.
Stone made the announcement over in the Plug-In Profit Support forum a couple of days ago. My initial reaction before I actually read the post was "What about the promise he made...?". If you have been with the Plug-In Profit site for more than a few months you will remember that he made a promise not to change any of the core programs unless one of them becomes defunct.
After reading his post, I could understand why he has decided to make the decision to remove Success University.
1) They are merging with a travel company
2) They are removing the $2 2-week trial
3) The price to join will be increasing. I believe it is going to be $149.95
Stone's decision is based mainly around the fact that he feels the entry price is too high and this could in turn lower the overall conversion rate for the Plug-In Profit Site.
After discovering his reasoning behind this decision, I agree with what he is doing.
BUT... more importantly - what does this mean for you?
If you are currently a member of Success University, you need to decide whether or not to continue promoting it.
Personally, I have decided to continue promoting Success University for now. Matt Morris sent out an email a couple of days ago outlining some interesting changes in the commission structure, so I am curious to see whether or not my commissions increase as a result of this change. In summary the changes are:

If you have been with the Plug-In Profit site for more than a few months you will remember that he made a promise not to change any of the core programs unless one of them becomes defunct.
After reading his post, I could understand why he has decided to make the decision to remove Success University.
1) They are merging with a travel company
2) They are removing the $2 2-week trial
3) The price to join will be increasing. I believe it is going to be $149.95
Stone's decision is based mainly around the fact that he feels the entry price is too high and this could in turn lower the overall conversion rate for the Plug-In Profit Site.
After discovering his reasoning behind this decision, I agree with what he is doing.
BUT... more importantly - what does this mean for you?
If you are currently a member of Success University, you need to decide whether or not to continue promoting it.
Personally, I have decided to continue promoting Success University for now. Matt Morris sent out an email a couple of days ago outlining some interesting changes in the commission structure, so I am curious to see whether or not my commissions increase as a result of this change. In summary the changes are:
- Weekly cap increased from $10,000 to $25,000 a week (I would like to say that this makes a difference to me, but I'm not fortunate enough to be pulling $10K a week from SU)
- Weekly Cycle payments will increase from $30 to $100 in June (very nice)
- If you cycle more than 3 times a week this will increase to $200 (even nicer)
- The monthly cap is increased from $40,000 to $50,000 (again, not something that I will see the benefit of)
- When you enroll 6 customers your monthly fee will be waived (I like that)
- Various new bonuses introduced
So if you are currently a member you may want to consider the above before deciding to quit SU.
The most important thing to remember is that this is your business and your website, so it is entirely up to you what you promote and you don't have to follow anybody else.
If you have never managed to sign anyone else up for Success University and/or your budget is stretched by the $50 a month tuition fee then you probably want to seriously consider dropping SU.
