Get Response FAQ

When you order a Plug-In Profit Site, Stone will open a free autoresponder account at GetResponse for you. He'll also load a 400 day newsletter series into your account. This will help to ensure that your subscribers return to your site again and again and hopefully sign up for a program or buy a product that you recommend.

I've put together a short GetResponse FAQ to help you get started and answer your GetResponse related questions.

Q. What is GetResponse and How does it work?

Get Response is an autoresponder. If someone signs up for your newsletter by sending an email to your username@getresponse.com or using the opt-in form onyour web page they will automatically receive a series of emails, one every few days.

Q. How do I login to my Get Response Account?

You should receive an email with your GetResponse ID and password when you sign up for a Plug-In Profit site. Once you have this you can login here. If you don't have an account you can open a GetResponse account for free here

Q. How do I check my newsletter is working OK?

If you signed up for a Plug-In Profit site, Stone will have taken care of setting up your autoresponder for you. However, it is still worthwhile signing up for your own newsletter to ensure that it is working ok and to familiarise yourself with the newsletter. Sign up through the form on your website or by sending a blank email to username@getresponse.com where username is your GetResponse username (usually part of your domain name)

Q. Help - I've signed up for my newsletter but I didn't receive it!

Don't panic! First check your Junk, Bulk or Spam folder if you have one - it's possible that your email service provider has marked the email as potential spam. To prevent this happening you can add your new email address to your address book (usually support@yournewwebsite.com where yournewwebsite is the name of your new website). If you still can't get this to work it is worth trying from a second email address if you have one, just to be sure. If in doubt post your question on the Plug-In Profit Support Forum or login to the Plug-In Profit affiliate center and click on the support link.

Q. How do I know how many people have signed up to my newsletter?

Login to your getResponse account and click on the Subsribers->My Subscribers menu option. You'll then see a list of your signups including their email address, how many days ago they signed up, when they are due to receive their next email (Next) and which email they are on out of the series (Cycle). If you don't have many subscribers have a look at my list building tips for some ideas on how to get some.

Q. Can I change the messages that are sent out to people when they sign up?

Yes - you can add your own new messages or change any of the existing messages. Just select the Campaigns->My Campaigns option and you'll see a list of all the messages in your autoresponder. You can click on the Edit link to edit any of the messages and click on the Save button to save your message. To add a new message just click on Manage Follow-up Messages link then click on the Create/Edit Message tab.

Q. How do I change the timing of the messages?

Just select the Campaigns->My Campaigns option and click on the link that says Manage Follow-up Messages then click on the Change Intervals tab. You'll see a list of messages with a number in a box on the left hand side. This number is the number of days after signing up that your subscriber receives this message. You can change the intervals to be more frequent or less frequent and press the Save button to save your changes.

Q. What are the advantages of Pro Membership?

There are various benefits of having a Pro membership. These include:

  • No third party adverts at the top of your email messages
  • You have access to telephone support
  • Access to the list builder service
  • Unlimited number of follow up messages
  • Broadcast feature

For a full list of Free and Pro features see http://www.getresponse.com/features.html

Q. What is a Broadcast message and how do I send one?

A broadcast is a message that is sent out to everyone in your mailing list. You may want to send a broadcast to your subscribers once in a while to promote something. Be careful not to do this too often as you may annoy people and cause them to unsubscribe. To send a broadcast select the Campaigns->Send Broadcast menu option and click on your campaign. Then just follow the instructions given by the Broadcase Wizard to send your broadcast out. You can personalise the message by using [[firstname]] within the message to address your subscriber by their name. Once you have completed the message, I recommend choosing the test option first and sending the message to yourself. Once you have received the email and checked it you can then broadcast it to your whole list.

Q. How do I create a new Autoresponder?

You can create as many new autoresponders as you like, with different messages by clicking on the Campaigns->My Campaigns->Create Campaign. Then just follow the instructions to create your new autoresponder series.

Q. Where can I get support?

There is a full FAQ for GetResponse here - http://www.getresponse.com/ModFaq/ListFaq/

A free web board here - http://www.getresponse.com/ModForum/DisplayNewsgroups/

You can also contact support by email or phone here - http://www.getresponse.com/ModStatic/Support/
