How to Build up Hundreds of Links and Increase your Traffic for FREE

I've talked about this in the past, but I think it is really important so I'm going to devote a whole blog post for this.

The question - What is the best way I know of to promote your website for free?

The answer - Writing Articles!

Whenever I create a new website or blog the first thing I do is to write a short article of around 500 words on a subject related to the topic of my site and add a short resource box to the end of the article with a link to my site. I then submit this to as many article directories as possible - at least 50, if not 100.

What are the benefits of doing this?

(1) 50+ new links back to my website from these article directories
(2) Many more links back to my website over time as other webmasters print my article on their site
(3) Increased search engine ranking as a result of these new links
(4) Qualified visitors to my site. People read the article and may then visit my site through the resource box to learn more.
(5) Establishes my name and increases the chances of being seen as an expert in this area

In addition to these benefits it is also a free (or at least very cheap) way of promoting your site.

The biggest thing that holds people back from promoting their site in this way is probably that they are not sure of what to write about, or not being confident enough about writing English.
