Use StumbleUpon to Increase your Traffic for Free

I always like to find new ways to promote my website, especially if they are free!

Today I want to tell you about StumbleUpon, which is another way for you to get new targeted visitors to your website. It's quick and easy to set up and in time you will start to see visitors to your site.

What is StumbleUpon?

StumbleUpon is a way for people to discover new websites. Instead of searching on a search engine suc as Google, they sign up for a free account with Stumbleupon, install a toolbar on their browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox), select which types of websites they are interested in visiting e.g. business, health, travel etc and then use the toolbar to discover new sites, rate them and say whether they like or dislike them by pressing a button on the toolbar. The more you use the toolbar, the more relevant the pages that you stumble upon are. This is because StumbleUpon uses your feedback to decide which sites to show you.

How does StumbleUpon help with my website promotion?

If you open an account with Stumbleupon then rate & review your own website you should start receiving some traffic to your site. You can then increase your Stumbleupon traffic by:
  • Reviewing and/or rating other websites that you discover through StumbleUpon
  • Adding friends
  • Submitting other pages from your site or other websites of your own
  • Joining communities within Stumbleupon
How do I get started with Stumbleupon?
  1. Open an account at http://www.stumbleupon.com
  2. Install the Stumbleupon toolbar
  3. Add your website(s)
  4. Review and rate your own website(s)
  5. Start adding friends and using the toolbar

You can visit my Stumbleupon page at http://suzannem.stumbleupon.com and add me as one of your friends. Let me know what your link is if you do this and I will also add you as my friend and rate your site (or just add your link to the forum thread mentioned below).

If you wish to increase the number of friends and ratings for your site visit this thread in the Plug-In Profit Support forum - http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=153575 and follow the instructions.

Happy Stumbling and let me know how you get on and if you have any questions.

Review of the IAHBE

I just finished writing a review of the IAHBE - International Association of Home Business Entrepreneurs. In case you don't already know this is an SFI product that you can subscribe to and earn Executive Affiliate (EA) status for. You can also advertise the IAHBE and you'll be credited when others sign up through your link.

You can read my Review of the IAHBE here. Please feel free to use this review in your own blog or website and you can replace my IAHBE and SFI affiliate links with your own. Please just retain the "About the Author" box.

If you want this on your blog but aren't sure how to do all the formating and links then feel free to email me your SFI ID & your blogger username and password and I will be happy to create the post on your behalf :-)

PIPS works while you are lying on the beach!

It's been a whole month since my last post!! Argh! I've not left such a long gap between posts in a long while. In the last couple of weeks I have really neglected my internet business. My Dad had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't really think of anything else, so didn't touch the computer much. Thankfully he is better now and at home again. I then went on vacation for a week in Portugal and spent my time lazing about by the pool, on the beach, sightseeing at the villages and towns of the Algarve and eating lots of lovely food.

When I returned from my holiday I was pleased to see that I had 4 new Plug-In Profit Site signups during the week that I had been away and a few affiliate sales here and there as well. It just goes to show that one of the great things about this business is that you can make money regardless of which country you are in, no matter what you are doing at the time (as long as you have put the work in to promote your site beforehand of course!).

So, I'm trying to get back on track now, catching up on my 500 or so emails, posting to my blogs and putting together a plan of what I am going to do over the next few weeks.

Watch out for my next post, in less than a week this time!
